Gospel Reading: Luke 10:21–24
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages… They went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.”
Gospel Reflection: “Sent With Him, Not Alone”
On the memorial of Saint Francis Xavier — one of the greatest missionaries in the Church’s history — today’s Gospel speaks with remarkable clarity: every disciple is sent. Missionary work is not reserved for a select few; it flows from the heart of discipleship itself.
But pay close attention to how the Gospel ends:
“The Lord worked with them.”
Jesus did not send His followers into the world alone. He walked with them, strengthened them, and confirmed their words with grace. Their mission was fruitful not because of their skill, but because of His presence.
This is the same mission you share today. You may never cross oceans or preach to distant cultures like Francis Xavier, yet you are called to proclaim Christ — through your compassion, your forgiveness, your integrity, your courage, your patience, your love. Evangelization begins with the quiet witness of a life shaped by Jesus.
Many people fear sharing their faith because they feel inadequate. But mission is not about your eloquence; it is about your willingness. Christ does the real work. You simply go — and He goes with you.
Let today’s Gospel restore confidence to your heart: every step you take in faith is accompanied by the Lord who sends you.
