According to Your Faith

KINDRED Daily Gospel Reflection
Gospel Reading: Matthew 9:27–31
As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed Him, crying out,
“Son of David, have pity on us!”
When He entered the house, the blind men approached Him and Jesus said to them,
“Do you believe that I can do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they said to Him.
Then He touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
And their eyes were opened.
Gospel Reflection: “According to Your Faith”
Two blind men follow Jesus with persistence and longing, crying out for mercy. Their plea is simple, unpolished, and desperate: “Son of David, have pity on us!” They seek not eloquence, but healing. They ask not with pride, but with need.
When Jesus questions them — “Do you believe that I can do this?” — He invites them into an interior examination: Do they truly trust Him? Do they believe He can heal what is wounded? Restore what is broken? Do they believe He is able?
Their answer — “Yes, Lord” — unlocks grace.
Faith does not remove struggle. It does not instantly rewrite every difficulty or pain. But faith opens the heart to the healing Jesus desires to give. Even when our sight is clouded by fear, grief, worry, or sin, Jesus meets us with tenderness. He touches the place of blindness and speaks a word of mercy.
Today’s Gospel invites you to name your own blindness — the places where you cannot see clearly, the wounds that limit your hope, the anxieties that narrow your vision. Bring these honestly before the Lord. You don’t need perfect words; you need a trusting heart.
Jesus’ question echoes for each of us:
“Do you believe that I can do this?”
Let your answer be simple and sincere:
“Yes, Lord.”
One Thing To Do Today:
Tell Jesus one concrete area of your life where you desire healing. Speak to Him from the heart: “Lord, I believe You can heal this.”
Closing Prayer:
Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Heal what is wounded, strengthen what is weak, and open the eyes of my heart. Let it be done according to Your love and mercy. Amen.
